My writing

“A Thinking Man’s Manual for Effective Dishwashing” is my debut autobiography and my first serious endeavour to write with the intention of publishing. Although I have always enjoyed writing poetry and short pieces, I am now beginning to grasp the profound impact of writing. I’m discovering the invigorating cognitive exercise that this remarkable mental gymnasium offers. The blend of creative right-brain activity with my pragmatic Dutch left-brain thinking is truly exhilarating. Each chapter of this book takes you on a journey through my memories and reflections, brimming with cherished moments, lessons learned, and the challenges I've encountered along the way. It not only chronicles my childhood in the Netherlands but also captures the dreams and memories I've woven together with Mary and our children in Australia.
As I continue my writing journey, I am crafting a play titled
"Not a Guilder nor a Herring," which imagines a fantastical encounter between Vincent van Gogh and Rembrandt. The play is still in its early stages of development, and I am fortunate to have the guidance of the highly experienced dramaturg, Peter Matheson, along with several experts from around the globe, who provide invaluable insights.
